
Day Before Exam: Come to our office to pick up the barium drink.

Please let us know if you cannot pick up the barium in advance. We will usually tell you to come to the office 2 hours before the exam to begin drinking the barium.

Please purchase a Fleet Enema Kit #2 and your local pharmacy and follow the enclosed directions. You may eat a light breakfast the morning of the exam

Nothing to eat or drink after midnight, except for medications. Medications may be taken with small sips of water. Please consult with your physician if you are a diabetic taking insulin for the appropriate dose

Finish Drinking six 8 oz. glasses of water one hour before the exam time. Do not empty your bladder before the exam. Your bladder needs to be full for optimum results.
Note: If your exam is for transvaginal only you do not have to
drink the water and your bladder may be empty

Please take three Ducolax Tablets at 4 P.M. the day before the exam. The day of the exam eat no dairy products. Have nothing to eat five (5) hours before the exam.

For your comfort, we recommend that you schedule your exam after the first day of your menstrual cycle. You may prefer to wear a two piece outfit so you only need to change your clothes from the waist up. Please do not use talcum powder, perfume, skin cream, or deodorant in the breast or armpit areas on the day of the exam.

Normally no preparation is required for MRI Scans.
It is important to tell us if you have any implanted electronic devices such as a pacemaker, or you have any metallic devices implanted such as surgical prostheses or surgical clips. Please inform us If you have had any recent surgery as this could effect the exam. Also please inform us if you have had any metal particles in your eye or are exposed to metallic particles in you work place.
